History

Founded by French traders in the late 18th century, when German immigrants joined the community beginning in 1830, St. Peters began to grow into a prosperous farming community. Incorporating in 1910, this allowed St. Peters to issue bonds to build an infrastructure to handle city issues, increasing city services and helping with the growth of the town. As recently as 1970, St. Peters was a small farming community, but rapid growth over the last 40 years has changed the makeup of the town from a small rural community to a more suburban town without losing its small town feel.
